   The Murphy Police Department is currently accepting applications for the position of: 

·         Police Officer (Full Time)

      Requirements:

·         Be a United States Citizen.

·         Be at least 21 years of age.

·         Be of good moral character, and standards.

·         Be a high school graduate, or have passed the G.E.D test.

·         Be North Carolina Basic Law Enforcement Training Certified (NC BLET).

·         Possess a valid North Carolina Drivers License.

·         Have not committed or been convicted of any felony or serious misdemeanors.

·         Pass an extensive background investigation, along with a medical and drug screening.

·         Be interviewed personally by the Department Head or his representative to determine the applicant's appearance, demeanor, attitude and ability to communicate.

       Benefits:

•    Competitive benefits package, which includes medical, dental, and vision insurance.

·         Starting Salary  $22,225 for non-experienced Law Enforcement Officers, others based on years of experience.

·         $450.00 uniform and equipment allowance, as well as department issued firearm and equipment

      Rotating shifts, with every other weekend off.
